Google is adding 200 more tech hires in 2018, according to Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter.
The move comes after Google announced last week that it was hiring a new chief technology officer to head the search and data team.
The hire, according a person familiar with its plans, will allow the company to hire “more of a tech-centric team” and make Google more efficient.
In December, the company also hired two engineers who have been working with its hardware and software teams to join its robotics and AI group.
The new hires will join a team that has been growing in size and complexity in recent years.
In 2016, Google hired nearly 800 people to build its AI team.
And last year, Google said it had added more than 1,000 people to its robotics team.
