By Jai Prakash | October 22, 2018 06:21:16This is a story about a man who made the right decision at the right time.
This is the story of Manoj Khatiwala.
A 24-year-old software engineer from Pune, Manoj was working for a small IT firm in Mumbai when he decided to leave his job.
“The company offered me a very good job, but it wasn’t my first choice.
I was looking for something that would offer me the same freedom and freedom to do what I want to do as my friends,” he recalls.
Mannoj’s dream was to be part of a team.
“I felt that the job I had worked for in a big multinational company was not for me,” he says.
He was also looking forward to the new challenges ahead.
“But as soon as I got the call, I realised that the dream was still not coming true,” he said.
He had already been in IT for 10 years and was part of the top software engineering team in the company.
He left in 2016 and spent the next five years on his own in Mumbai.
“Before I left, I knew that I would always be the face of the company, but I realised I didn’t need to be the only person there,” he remembers.
“And I realised how important it is to be an equal and independent person.”
A year after he left, he returned to his home town of Pune and started a new job as a sales manager for a hardware startup called Ease of Access.
He had a great team and was well respected by his colleagues, but he did not feel like he was being appreciated.
“It was a good experience, but the next few months felt like a long time in the making.
I felt like I had to prove myself.
I had no idea what I wanted to do, and I was scared that the new people I was working with would not be able to meet my expectations,” he told me.
Mamanoj had been working for Ease for the past three years, and the team was constantly growing.
“There was a big push to create a new company, and one day, after a few meetings with a few investors, I was offered a new position.
I worked on my own time and took a break,” he added.”
After about a year, I decided to come back.
I worked on my own time and took a break,” he added.
He returned in January 2017, and began his second year at Ease.
His team was also expanding, and he was able to focus on more important things like marketing and social media.
“In the first year, we were growing at a rate of 20-25 per cent per month.
But this was just a stepping stone, we had to start thinking about growth and becoming bigger.
After the first few months, the team grew at a more sustainable rate,” he recalled.
Mangalore was a huge city with lots of potential.
It had an abundance of technology talent and a well-educated population.
Manoj wanted to be involved in this industry.
“Technology is the new big thing.
I want a position in it, and in this field, I am the best,” he tells me.
He was soon able to make his dream a reality.
“When I joined the company in 2017, it was a completely new company.
I could do what was possible at the company and had the opportunity to do it all over again,” he points out.
Manoj was given a job in marketing.
He worked as a team leader, leading the marketing team.
He got to know the people and the environment at the new company very well.
“For example, I worked with two marketing managers, a team manager, and two product managers.
I met the new product managers in person, so I could learn from them.
I started working with the marketing manager who is the best in his field.
I have learnt from her a lot,” he shares.
“During the past year, all of the people I worked for got promoted, and we were doing well,” Manoj adds.
Mankindoj had an interesting story.
He started off as a software engineer but after a year of hard work and constant improvement, he realised he had the ability to be a great software engineer.
“At the end of the year, after working at the same company for almost three years without making any mistakes, I left,” he explains.
“While I was doing that, I got a call from a colleague who was working in the software industry in Mumbai, and they told me that I was the right person for the job.
I got accepted for the new position and I have been working with Ease ever since.”
He joined the new team as a junior software engineer in January this year.
