US military leaders have signed a contract to hire at least 700 more civilian IT professionals, the Pentagon said on Tuesday, adding the hiring is part of the US’s efforts to address a staffing shortage that has plagued the military for years.
The new hires are part of an effort to improve efficiency and improve access to information, the military said in a statement.
They include “a broad range of personnel who are trained in IT systems, computer systems, cybersecurity, systems management and operations, and related disciplines, and who will help US forces achieve more rapid, efficient and successful operations,” the statement said.
