Washington (AP) The Justice Department is investigating allegations that a federal employee had sexual contact with a subordinate, including when she was a subordinate of a supervisor, according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press.
The attorney general’s office is investigating the case as part of a broader probe into workplace harassment, according the letter.
The Justice Office of Professional Responsibility, which is in charge of investigating workplace harassment cases, did not respond to a request for comment.
The employee’s name was not released in the letter, but a former colleague said the woman had worked for the Justice Department for a year and had been a lawyer.
The letter, sent Friday, asks the department’s Office of Special Counsel to investigate whether the employee was harassed in the workplace.
The assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia has not been named.
