The Vancouver Canucks announced Tuesday that they have named Dwayne “The Rock” Roloeson, a defenseman who has represented the United States on the world championship ice hockey championship team, as the team’s Player of a Year for the 2017-18 season.
“We are very pleased to announce that Dwayne is the new captain of the Vancouver Canucks,” said general manager Jim Benning.

The Canucks have won seven consecutive Stanley Cup Finals, and have the NHL’s best record at 8-2-0.
The Canucks will host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
The Canucks, who have the best record in the NHL, are looking for their fourth consecutive Stanley Bowl win, and second consecutive conference championship.
The team also will be celebrating its 20th anniversary on Jan. 7, 2023.
The NHL will televise the game at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
